Cinnamon sugar or whiskey, orange glaze doughnuts
ingredients
makes 20 doughnuts
1kg plain white flour
120g caster sugar
14g dry yeast
pinch salt
6 yolks
210g butter melted
2 cups milk (warm)
method
collect all the ingredients before you start
in a large mixing bowl add flour, sugar, salt and yeast
in a second bowl mix egg yolks, melted butter and warm milk
add egg mix to the flour mixture
knead for on a floured surface until smooth
place dough into a clean bowl and cover with a damp towel
leave for an hour or until double in size
roll dough until it’s 1cm thick
using an 8cm circular cutter cut the doughnuts and place on baking paper
then take a second smaller cutter to cut out the centres
don’t throw away the centres keep them and make doughnut holes
fry doughnuts @ 180 degrees for 2 mins on each side until golden brown
for cinnamon sugar doughnut roll in cinnamon sugar while warm so the sugar sticks
for whiskey glaze let the doughnuts cool and dip into glaze then set on a baking rack
whiskey glaze
200g icing sugar
zest of 1 orange
20ml orange juice
30ml whiskey
mix together until smooth
